The material has been collected and assembled into various categories and groups, within which individual weapons have been arranged in alphabetical and chronological order.  Under each weapon, there is a short description of the system to which it belongs, the calibre and the cartridge.  Sections dealing with the various systems are followed by those describing the history of arms’ manufactures, biographies of inventors and designers, and a bibliography of small arms.  The whole work consists of eight self-contained parts.
