To most people, the phrase powder flask brings to mind images of plain horns hung by fireplaces or battered copper flasks seen in grandparents’ homes.  Yet, this exhibition and its accompanying catalogue demonstrate, that powder flasks, were often much more than plain utilitarian objects.  In many instances, they embody work which exemplifies the applied arts.
