Description
“Word of Honour – Camp 30” by Lynn Philip Hodgson and Alan Paul Longfield. Hardcover.
Welcome to Camp 30 Word of Honour, the fourth in the Inside Camp-X Series. Camp 30 Word of Honour is an historically-accurate account of what went on during World War II behind the barbed wire fencing of Prisoner of War ‘Camp 30’. Situated on the site of the former Boy’s Training School in the town of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, Camp 30 housed hundreds of German officers of the Luftwaffe, Wehrmacht and Kriegsmarine.
Historically-accurate, meticulous descriptions of the prisoners’ tunnel construction projects, from preliminary design to completion, as well as documented escape exploits by POWs, within sight of the Veteran Guards, as masterminded by Korvettenkapitän Otto Kretschmer, are recounted in gripping detail. We accompany one such fugitive on his flight to freedom from Bowmanville to New Brunswick, on Canada’s Atlantic coast.
